CARNAVAL SPECIAL 11 & 15 February, 2010 – Each year, Carnaval in Mérida grows and expands and promises to become one of the largest Carnaval celebrations in Latin America. For this special class – and in preparation for the long days of Lenten fasting! – we will learn some of the most ancient Maya recipes still in use today and other specialties of Yucatán cuisine. And so that we don’t miss out on the partying, we’ll make a special trip to the Plaza Principal to watch one of the dazzling parades that take place every day during this raucous week – the charming Desfile Infantil, or children's parade, on the 11th, and the Desfile Regional featuring dancers all dressed in regional costumes on the 15th . 9 hours.
