DAY 0: ARRIVAL DAY
Arrive Mérida International Airport; transfer airport/hotel

WORKSHOP DAYS:

DAY 1: Transfer hotel/Los Dos
Chef Mario Canul will greet you at Los Dos, and invite you into his kitchen where he will present an overview of Yucatán’s unique ingredients. Follow him on a tour of Mérida’s colorful central market, then join Los Dos for lunch at a restaurant featuring the finest regional cuisine. We will help you navigate the menu as you sample several Yucatecan specialties. Evening dinner at local restaurant.

DAY 2: Continental breakfast at hotel
A city tour of this magnificent colonial city will help you get your bearings. Stroll around Plaza Principal; tour the Cathedral – the oldest in the continental Americas. At Los Dos, you will meet local Maya women who will instruct you in the fine art of shaping tortillas. More cooking instruction with Chef Mario Canul will be followed by the comida fuerte (mail meal of the day) in the elegant Los Dos dining room.

DAY 3: Continental breakfast at hotel
Excursion to the charming colonial city of Izamál. Tour the monastery and church and enjoy a calesa (horse and buggy) ride through town, past the several large intact pyramids that remain of the ancient city. At Restaurante Kinich Kak-moo we will observe Maya women preparing our food, then enjoy a typical Yucatecan feast. Dinner at popular Mérida restaurant.

DAY 4: Continental breakfast at hotel
Excursion to Hacienda Vista Alegre that produces the famous Yucatecan honey/anise liqueur Xtabentun as well as a variety of incredible rums. Transfer to Los Dos for another afternoon of cooking instruction.

DAY 5: Continental breakfast at hotel
An exotic excursion into the heart of Maya Yucatán. Uxmal is considered the most beautiful of the Maya archaeological zones. In the tiny pueblo of Santa Elena you will visit a typical Maya family. Lunch will be at the spectacular 5-star Hacienda Temozón, part of the Starwood Luxury Collection, where you will enjoy updated classics of Yucatecan fare. Dinner features the best in regional “fusion” cuisine.

Check out; transfer hotel/Mérida International Airport

PRICE INCLUDES
Six nights’ accommodation; two day-trip excursions; city tour and morning excursion to distillery; three hands-on cooking classes; continental breakfast and lunch each day of your stay; and dinner three evenings of your stay; wine/beer service during the main meal at Los Dos; one alcoholic beverage at all other meals; all transfers and entrance fees. The Luxury Upgrade is for accommodations at one of a select group of Mérida’s most prestigious hotels.

Air fare between point of departure and Mexico (Mérida, Yucatán); service tips at hotel; service tips at evening meals. Service tips to staff at Los Dos on cooking days are not included and are at the discretion of the visitor; pesos or US dollars are welcome.
